MT- en MTZ-compressoren zijn verkrijgbaar in 22 verschillende modellen met een cilinderinhoud variërend van 1,84 tot 16,57 in3/omw. Er zijn zeven verschillende motorspanningsbereiken beschikbaar voor een- en driefasige voedingen bij 50 en 60 Hz. De meeste compressoren bestaan in twee versies: standaardversie •VE-versie (olie-egalisatie + oliekijkglas).
Een azeotropisch mengsel (zoals R502 of R507A) gedraagt zich als een zuiver koelmiddel. Tijdens een faseovergang (van damp naar vloeistof of van vloeistof naar damp) blijft de samenstelling van damp en vloeistof hetzelfde.
In een zeotroop mengsel (zoals R407C) verandert daarentegen de samenstelling van damp en vloeistof tijdens de faseovergang. Wanneer het effect van deze faseovergang erg klein is, wordt het mengsel vaak een bijnaazeotropisch mengsel genoemd. R404A is zo'n bijna azeotroop mengsel.
De compositieverandering veroorzaakt faseverschuiving en temperatuurverschuiving.
