Daikin and Copeland announce US joint venture

Daikin and Copeland announce US joint venture

2025-07-11

USA/JAPAN: Two leading manufacturers in the HVAC industry, Copeland and Daikin, have announced a joint venture through which Copeland will introduce Daikin’s inverter swing rotary compressor technology to the U.S. market.

The joint venture will be established in the United States, focusing specifically on selling inverter swing rotary compressors to the U.S. residential sector.

Copeland will hold a majority stake in the new venture, which is anticipated to begin operations by the first half of 2025 following standard regulatory approvals.

Daikin’s inverter swing rotary technology—first integrated into the company’s compact air conditioners in 1997—is said to complement Copeland’s product portfolio, offering significant advantages such as reduced energy consumption, cost savings, and improved reliability.

Both companies emphasized that this collaboration will play a critical role in accelerating the transition to heat pumps, aligning with environmental goals and regulatory demands.

Initially, the agreement will focus on supplying test samples of Daikin’s inverter swing rotary compressors to Copeland’s U.S. customers to support rapid adoption and evaluation. Copeland will handle sales and technical support.

Looking ahead, the firms plan to explore setting up a dedicated manufacturing facility in North America to ensure a stable supply of these high-performance compressors.

“Our established sales network, customer proximity, and high-quality service, combined with Daikin’s inverter swing rotary compressor technology, will enable our customers to design and deliver highly efficient HVAC systems that tackle both energy and sustainability challenges,” said Ross B. Shuster, CEO of Copeland.
